Wealth is more mobile than ever. Henley & Partners now forecasts a record ~165,000 millionaires relocating internationally in 2026, up from 142,000 in 2025 and roughly 300% higher than a decade ago. For luxury brands, advisors and developers, migration is not just a macro story: it creates the rare moment when a wealthy buyer is new in town and has not yet chosen a bank, a broker, a club or a brand.
Who is leaving
For the first time in a decade of tracking, a European country leads the world in millionaire outflows. The UK is forecast to lose around 16,500 millionaires in 2025, more than double the 7,800 net outflow from China, which had topped the loser leaderboard every year of the past decade. Tax, regulation and mobility are pushing wealth to relocate at scale.
Who is gaining
The UAE retains its crown as the world’s leading wealth magnet, with a record net inflow of +9,800 millionaires, over 2,000 ahead of the United States at +7,500. Italy and Switzerland round out the top destinations. The Gulf story is deep enough to warrant its own briefing: see the Gulf wealth magnet.
A newly arrived millionaire is a category up for grabs. The brand that shows up first, in the right rooms, wins the relationship.
Why migration is a marketing opportunity
Thousands of wealthy arrivals each year are, by definition, new to the local landscape. They have not settled on a private bank, a property broker, a members’ club or a jeweller. Established loyalties are suspended. For brands in luxury real estate, private aviation and hospitality and members’ clubs, this is the highest-intent window there is.
What this means for marketers
Follow the flows. Build presence in the destination markets before the competition, and localise the story to the incoming buyer rather than translating a home-market campaign. The incoming profiles differ sharply, a UK family relocating for tax is not a self-made Gulf magnate, which is exactly what a made-to-order persona set captures, with sources.
